Summer river days with your family.
Warm water, a guided raft and a lunch stop in the Gorge. Let’s make sure the Hudson trip fits everyone in your crew.
Summer is a popular family season.
Family rafting in the Adirondacks usually starts with the Hudson River Gorge day trip. Summer water is generally warmer and the operator describes mostly Class III rapids, compared with spring’s higher Class IV water. Your group still paddles real whitewater with a guide, not a calm-water sightseeing ride.
Confirm your children’s requirements first.
The published summer rule of thumb is age 6 and older with an adult. It is not a universal minimum for every date: size, weight, cold conditions and water level can affect eligibility. Extremely high water and Class V trips normally require age 18+. Call us before booking to discuss each child and the date you have in mind.
What your Hudson day includes
- 17 miles of Indian River and Hudson Gorge rafting
- New York State licensed guides, required river gear and a freshly prepared lunch
- Published check-in at 9 a.m. and return around 3 p.m.; follow your reservation instructions
- Published day rate: $120/person or $840 for a private raft of 4–8 people
Choose the right pace.
A five-mile Class I tubing float is a gentler published river option, but it has its own requirements, timing and gear details to confirm. It is not automatically a substitute for a child who is ineligible to raft. Talk to the team so you choose on suitability, not just the activity name.
A returning family’s words
“Our family had a wonderful time. It was our second trip. We’ll be back! Frank is an outstanding guide!”

Before you book
What is the minimum age?
The operator’s summer Hudson guideline is age 6 and older with an adult. Extremely high water and Class V trips normally require guests to be at least 18. There are exceptions, and size, weight and cold conditions can affect eligibility. Call before booking for a child or for high-water trips.
Do I need to know how to swim?
The operator’s FAQ says swimming ability is not required and everyone must wear a provided Coast Guard-approved PFD while on the river. Being in moving water still carries risk. Tell the team about swimming concerns before reserving so they can confirm the right trip and conditions.
How far ahead should I reserve?
Reserve as early as you can for your preferred date. North Creek Rafting Company keeps trips small, and July and August reservations are often made well in advance. The booking calendar shows the dates currently available.
